The Amazing Amazon

No, not the company. Hi! Today I am writing about the Amazon! There are so many amazing creatures, so let's dive in! Jaguar: Jaguars are part of the cat family, and their scientific name is Panthera onca. Jaguars have the strongest bite force of any big cat. They don't bite the neck, they crush the skull. They have amazing jumping abilities; zoos have documented jaguars jumping up to 10 feet high, and in the wild, they often drag their prey up that high. There are also black jaguars, just jaguars that have a slightly different genetic makeup, and have black fur. One regular jaguar mom can have one black baby and one patterned baby. Well, technically, the pattern is still there, but it's hard to see. Capybara: Capybaras are the largest rodent on earth. They have ever growing teeth, like a beaver, and they keep them sharp by having a hard layer in front, and a soft layer in back, like a pencil. That way, when they chew and gnaw, their teeth get sharper. They ar

Australia

Australia: A Continental Country Kangaroo: Kangaroos are mammals with uncanny kickboxing skills. They have a special way they stand on their tail so they can kick with both feet. They try to go for the belly, so consequently, red kangaroos developed a layer of padding there. The Australian Outback is super hot, so kangaroos dig into the cooler soil. They also lick their forearms to cool down. Female red kangaroos are bluish-gray, and babies, called joeys, are gray.  Dingo: Dingos are wild dogs that hunt in the Outback. They are orange-peach, and hunt in packs. Oddly enough, there are some dingos in Indonesia and other areas near there. Dingos prey on kangaroos. Kangaroos deal with that by putting their joeys in a pouch and running. The head male will fight the dingo, and attempt to drown it if they are near any water, which they will be if there is water to be found. Wallaby: A wallaby is pretty much a smaller version of a kangaroo. Wallabies have proportionally longer

Madagascar

Madagascar: Land of the Lemurs Hi again! I will be posting about Madagascar, but first...... Shout-out to everyone!! Red pandas are not pets, do not support any companies that use red panda parts! Please! Visit  Red Panda Network  to learn more.  Fossas: Fossas are the apex predator of Madagascar. They are somewhat related to weasels. If you took a brown weasel, made it the size of a German Shepherd, and gave it longer legs, you have a fossa. Their ankles can rotate completely backwards, so they are completely at home in the trees. They are carnivores, and mainly prey on lemurs. They have to be good in the trees to catch those! Especially Sifaka lemurs! Lemurs: Lemurs are primates, which is a family that includes monkeys, lemurs, apes, and humans. They are quick in the trees and can navigate anywhere in them. How a fossa would catch them is to drive them to the ground. They are not super quick on the ground. There are 32 species of lemurs, which are all endemic to M
