Proper Cat Treatment

 I am going to say, right off the bat, these are MY PERSONAL OPINIONS! I learned this from books and have also drawn my own conclusions. You can choose whether you want to believe me or not. Let's go.

Please keep your cat inside. Do not let your cat be an entirely outdoor cat, do not have your cat be an indoor/outdoor cat. It will lead to your cat being caught by a coyote, being caught by an eagle, being hit by a car....at the very least, birds might not want to come near your yard. If you want to let your cat hang out outside, and your cat friend also wants to be outside, here are some compromises:

• Cat TV. Put a cat tree up in a window. Fill it with blankets, pillows and toys. Then, put a bird feeder outside that window. The cat can snuggle into the blankets and watch the birds all day. Passive activity.
• Walk your cat on a leash. No, I'm not kidding! It is hard, and can ONLY be done if your cat enjoys it, but it's pretty nice for the cat if they like it. Click here to learn more. Thank you Jackson Galaxy! You made writing this a whole lot easier! Also, to people reading this, Jackson Galaxy is a very good Cat Daddy, and his videos are awesome! Ok people, make sure you LISTEN to the instructions. Most important parts following.
• Walk your cat on a harness. NOT A COLLAR! Cat collars are breakaway, so if the cat gets stuck on a tree, it won't suffocate, the cat collar will break. I would rather have the cat than the collar. 
• Clicker Training! Enough said.
•  Harness and leash training should be done separately.
• You can catify! Again, watch the Jackson Galaxy video. Basically, it means you put up shelves and stuff that your cat can hang out on.
• PLAY WITH YOUR CAT!
• Cat backpacks. I do not know a whole lot about these. (This may come as a surprise, but I don't have a cat friend living in my house.) I do think that if your cat likes them, roll with it. Use it when you go hiking! Your cat's olfactory glands will be in overdrive!

Actually, you should play with your cat no matter what, so...use whatever gets your cat excited. Feather wands, bell balls. Cat trees are great too.  

Make sure you and your cat have a routine, something that never changes. Like maybe you get up every morning and play with your cat.
